The STEALTH AIR BIKE XR was designed to bring high-performance conditioning into the home without sacrificing ride quality, durability, or stability. But what does it take to engineer an air bike that's smaller, quieter, and still built to handle intense workouts? We sat down with one of the engineers behind the BIKE XR to learn more about the design decisions, challenges, and details that make this bike stand out.
What was the main goal when developing the STEALTH AIR BIKE XR?
"Our primary goal was to bring performance and quality into a more compact and manageable footprint." With home gym space at a premium, the engineering team focused on reducing the bike's overall size and weight while maintaining the rigidity, ride quality, and durability needed for demanding workouts.
What went into creating a smoother, quieter riding experience?
"The chain provides a feel that mimics road bikes, while the belt handles the high-speed stage more quietly and smoothly." This combination helps reduce noise while minimizing lubrication requirements and maintenance compared to an all-chain system.
What are you most excited for people to experience when they first ride it?
"I'm most excited for people to experience the solid feel of the handlebars under hard efforts and notice how much quieter the belt-driven stage is during a workout."
Which engineering detail or feature are you most proud of, and why?
"I am particularly proud of the swivel bearings at the base of each handlebar arm." These bearings help reduce lateral movement in the handlebars, creating a more rigid and stable feel during demanding workouts. The team also designed them to remain accessible for maintenance or replacement, supporting long-term stability.
